NPPA API reference
India's notified medicine ceiling prices, brand MRPs and substitutes, straight from NPPA.
The NPPA API has 6 endpoints, called the same way: POST /execute with the endpoint ID as capability and its fields as input, or pin NPPA in the MCP server and call each one as a tool. The data comes back as JSON in results[0].data, with what the call cost in billing.credits_charged.
The inputs you send most are brand, formulation and query. Every endpoint costs 1 credit per call, and a failed call costs nothing.

Open an endpoint for its input, the fields it returns and the request in cURL, Python and Node.js.

What to know
- NPPA's PDF-only lists (NLEM, the price compendium and the therapeutic-category price PDFs) are not covered.
- Medicine and brand names are returned exactly as NPPA writes them.
- A brand-name search reads NPPA's full brand index of 61,077 names, so it takes longer than a formulation search.
- A formulation search reads NPPA's whole notified table; the portal answers that route slowly, often in 12 to 15 seconds.
- MRP is the price for the month NPPA publishes, not a live pharmacy price.
- Brand packs exist only for formulations in NPPA's brand database; 53 notified formulations, ACYCLOVIR among them, have no brand rows.
